How did you guys meet?

I (Kristian) was visiting with my then new friend Blake in the car one day. After I had made a remark about healthcare in the United States and Blake suddenly gave me a funny look. "You... really remind me of my sister Lacey sometimes." He said. "You should meet her." I was very dismissive of Blake's comment. I was very focused on my school and serving and I didn't see much room in my life for romance, nor did I have the energy to sustain the drama which generally accompanies it. Fast forward a few weeks and we were having a Friendsgiving celebration at our church young adults group. Someone had told me that Lacey was coming to the gathering. I mentally told myself not to worry, that she probably wasn't even that attractive. Then she walked into the room, and time seemed to stand still as she glided over to a group of her friends. Well so much for her not being attractive, that ship has sailed. I thought to myself; it's no cause for concern, she probably doesn't have the kind of character that I'm looking for in a spouse. Some essential background, I have always had a strong conviction about letting others serve up food first. I heard from an old marine the adage Leaders Eat Last. I have tried to adhere to this as best I could. As I waited to get my food, I noticed that Lacey wasn't getting food either. Finally I mustered the courage to ask her why she wasn't getting her food. "I like waiting to eat last to be polite." She replied. I knew in that moment I was in way over my head, and from that point onwards, I was very interested in Lacey Cargill.

How did the proposal happen?

We spent Memorial Day weekend with our families on the Big Island of Hawaii. On November 9th, after a wonderful day on the beach snorkeling and swimming, we went to a quiet piece of beach and ate chocolate covered strawberries and all of Lacey's favorite snacks. Kristian then got down on one knee and asked the question. Since Lacey's yes, we've been happier than ever!

What are some of your favorite things to do together?

We love serving in the church, hiking, reading, going to museums, traveling around the world, playing video games, talking about medicine or nutrition, trying new restaurants, learning new languages, and board games

Are you having a honeymoon? Where are you going?

Yes! We are blessed to be able to go to a private bungalow in Fiji.

How can we bless your new life together?

Please pray for us in all that we do, and visit our registry page!
